Senior Developer/Buyer Technical Outerwear

In this role you will ensure the achievement of development/buying related tasks of the line plan incl.

highest standards of material- and product quality, innovation, sustainability, retail price structure, target margins, development schedule deadlines, production planning and sample management;

Working throughout the process in close cooperation with product management, design, tech, agencies and vendors during the product development process.

Your core responsabilities?

√ To drive and deliver the O’Neill Product Development and Buying Strategy for relevant categories:

  •  By driving seasonal development direction, executed in relevant categories that drives the O’Neill brand on both an innovation and trend level.
  •  Establish and execute seasonal innovation focusing on consumer benefits against “Warmth / Dry / Light”.
  • Deliver and execute a material sourcing plan, focusing on innovation, performance, trend, sustainability and commerciality including maintenance of material library accordingly.
  •  Execute a balanced vendor manufacturing strategy and -planning across geographies for relevant product categories, including material bookings, pre-buys tec.
  • Deliver a solid product development & buying process that delivers on-trend product, maximized margin and growth opportunities.
  •  Address product opportunities and brand stories through Seasonal Product Construct of Foundation / Seasonal product & Heat within relevant categories.
  •  Display high level of competitive, market, customer and consumer trend awareness, innovation and deliver on those opportunities through the product development/buying process.
  • Deliver & Execute an annual Development and Buying plan for relevant categories, based on Line-plan from Product Management/Merchandising, that focuses on innovation, vendor management, compliance and sustainability. With involvement of, and handed over to Manufacturing Planning.
  • Managing BOM; style information of all relevant parties in PDM/ERP system and maintain all buying related information incl. FOB, lead time and delivery dates.
  • Create, manage and follow-up of sample PO’s and eventual material bookings.
  •  Ensure prototyping and sampling to be procured according to the technical- and quality standards with all required approval processes and –standards.
  •  Settle quality and fit claims with vendors (Q&D) in cooperation with technician and agencies.

√ Drive growth through:

  •  Delivering margin targets by close communication with our Hong Kong buying office on operational activities, as well as agencies and suppliers concerning FOB prices, target setting, lead time, capacity and minima. Negotiate and finalize all product and buying related issues accordingly incl. renegotiation of the FOBs based on production quantity.
  •  Influencing across both Design, Product Management & Merchandising teams.
  •  Close to market & in season opportunities. Maintain flexible to changes of collection concept and details during the entire development process due to updated market information and ensure first priority handling of close to market initiatives.

√ Interact and align with Design, Product Management & Merchandising team as well as Agencies & Vendors on a regular basis to drive new opportunities & seasonal heat. Initiate Agency- & Vendor research incl. color cards, fabrics and trimmings to be shared and filed in relevant libraries. Both from commercial- and trend perspective.

√ Coaching, Training and development of eventual Junior Buyers, Interns and Agency Merchandising

Who are you?
  • Bachelor degree or similar with a focus on textiles and garments
  • At least 6-8 year experience in Apparel and/or Sportswear industry
  • Advanced user of MS Office /ERP/PDM Quest etc.
  • Technical / professional knowledge : product development skills
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English;
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Willing to live in The Netherlands
